Hi! My name is Emilie Strange, and I began my journey as an educator almost 20 years ago. After earning my BA in psychology, I worked in schools and homes as an ABA therapist. This experience led me to pursue a Master's Degree in Education--specifically teaching students with disabilities-- which I completed in 2013.
Over the years, I've taught almost every subject there is to teach, in every class setting you can think of! I kept witnessing over and over, neurodiverse students fall behind academically due to a myriad of factors that schools--public, private, and even ABA Center schools--weren't equipped to handle effectively. I recognized that while behavioral and emotional supports for ND students are available, academic supports are lacking. It is often up to the family to supplement the education their ND child receives.
In 2025, I retired from school teaching and began expanding my 1:1 remediation and tutoring services. In 2026, I converted my living room at home to be a welcoming place for students to receive academic remediation. Lightheart Learning was born!

The mission of Lightheart Learning is to empower neurodiverse students through individualized academic intervention, remediation, and support. We are committed to meeting each student where they are, honoring their individual strengths and needs, and fostering the skills, confidence, and independence necessary for lifelong learning. We strive to make high-quality academic support accessible and affordable to families from diverse financial circumstances, including offering sliding-scale options when appropriate.
